Product Details
Habitat:
1. Enclosure: A vertically oriented terrarium is recommended due to their arboreal nature, with a minimum size of 18”x18”x24” for a single gecko. The enclosure should have branches and foliage (real or artificial) for climbing and hiding.
2. Temperature: Maintain a temperature gradient with daytime temperatures around 75-80°F (24-27°C) and a slight drop at night, but not below 65°F (18°C).
3. Humidity: These geckos require high humidity levels, around 70-80%. Mist the enclosure twice daily to maintain these levels and provide hydration.
Diet:
1. Primary Diet: Primarily frugivorous. Commercially available Crested Gecko or similar diets are suitable. These are typically fruit-based powders mixed with water.
2. Supplements: Occasional insects like crickets or roaches can be offered, dusted with calcium and vitamin D3 supplements.
3. Feeding Schedule: Feed adult geckos 3-4 times a week and juveniles more frequently.
Lighting:
1. UVB Lighting: Not essential if a well-balanced diet is provided, but UVB lighting can be beneficial for overall health and behaviour.
2. Day/Night Cycle: Ensure a consistent light/dark cycle, mimicking natural conditions.
Water:
1. Water Source: Provide a shallow water dish and ensure that they have access to water droplets from misting for drinking.
2. Misting: Regular misting is necessary for maintaining humidity and hydration.
Social and Behavioural Needs:
1. Social Structure: They can be kept alone or in pairs, but males should not be housed together due to territorial behavior.
2. Environmental Enrichment: Include various climbing structures and hiding places to stimulate natural behaviors.
Health:
1. Regular Check-Ups: Annual veterinary check-ups are recommended, especially for a specialized species like this.
2. Common Health Issues: Look out for signs of metabolic bone disease, skin infections, or changes in appetite or behaviour.
